Mohammad Farooque

Dr. Mohammad Farooque is a Senior Vice-President and Direct Fuel Cell Technology Fellow at FuelCell Energy, Inc., Danbury, CT 06813, US, a world’s leading Fuel Cell Company. He is responsible for planning, directing, and executing the Direct Fuel Cell Research and Development activities in FCE. Dr. Farooque has been with FCE for over thirty years and his career at the company included R&D activities in Phosphoric Acid Fuel Cell (PAFC), Carbonate Fuel cells technology development, various fuels processing for fuel cells, electro-liquefaction of coal, catalysts and catalytic reactors development, hydrogen separation and transportable and onsite power plant systems. He spent most of his professional career in developing the Direct Fuel Cell, which is now a commercial power plant. The current DFC power plants are based on Dr. Farooque’s power plant system patent. The direct fuel cell design, on which the product is founded, is also based on a series of internal reformer patents issued to him him. He has authored over 150 publications in electrochemical systems and fuel cells including chapters in three fuel cell handbooks and has been awarded 34 U.S. patents.
